Two Travelers, worn out by the heat of the summer’s sun lay down at noon under the wide-spreading branches of a plane tree.

As they rested under its cool shade, one of the travelers said to the other, “What a useless tree this is! It bears no fruits, and is not of the slightest use to man.”

A Cock was strutting up and down the farmyard among the hens when suddenly he espied something shining amid the stray. “Ho! Ho! quoth he, that ‘s for me,” and soon rooted it out from beneath the straw.

 แอนโดรเคิลกับสิงโต Androcles and the Lion

A slave named Androcles once escaped from his master and fled to the forest. As he was wandering about there he came upon a lion lying down moaning and groaning.

ทาสคนหนึ่งมีนามว่า อันโดรเคิลส์ ครั้งหนึ่งเคยหนีเข้าไปหลบอยู่ในป่า ในขณะที่เขาเดินเตร่ไปมาอยู่แถวนั้น เขาได้ไปพบกับสิงโตตัวหนึ่งกำลังนอนร้องครวญครางอยู่

At first he turned to flee, but finding that the lion did not pursue him, he turned back and went up to him.

The Emperor, surprised at his, summoned Androcles to him, who told him the whole story.

One day, a country rat wanted to go to town. He prepared himself and started his journey.

It was hot on the way. So the rat was tired and thirsty. He then stopped near a big pond…to drink water for refreshing himself…and to find some fruits to eat.

Near that pond, there lived a frog. When the rat saw the frog, he walked straight towards him. He forced the frog to take him to the other side of the pond. 
ใกล้ๆ บึงใหญ่แห่งนั้นเป็นที่อาศัยของกบตัวหนึ่ง เมื่อหนูเห็นกบมันจึงเดินรี่เข้าไปหาแล้วขู่บังคับให้กบพามันข้ามไปยังอีกฟากหนึ่ง

But the frog refused. The rat beat up the frog badly. So the frog had to give up and agreed to take him across the pond.

The rat was afraid that the frog might leave him in the middle of the pond, so he tied his leg with the frog’s leg.

When they were in the middle of the pond, the frog stopped swimming, wanting the rat to drown. The rat tried to swim to save himself from drowning while the frog looked on with satisfaction.

พินอคคิโอ Pinocchio

There is an old man named Geppetto. He has no son and is alone.
One day, he makes a puppet from wood.
Then surprisingly, the puppet starts moving.
“Your name is Pinocchio. You will be my good son.
And you must go to school. Will you promise me?”
“Yes, I will. I will be a good boy and go to school.”
ยังมีชายชราผู้หนึ่งชื่อว่า เจพแพทโท เขาไม่มีลูกชายและอยู่ตัวคนเดียว
วันหนึ่ง เขาก็ได้สร้างหุ่นกระบอกที่ทำจากไม้ขึ้นมา 1 ตัว
แล้วก็น่าประหลาดที่เจ้าหุ่นกระบอกนั่นเริ่มขยับตัวเอง
“ชื่อของเธอคือ พินอคคิโอ นะ เธอจะต้องเป็นลูกชายที่ดีของฉัน
และจะต้องไปโรงเรียนด้วยนะ จะสัญญากับฉันได้ไหม”
“ครับ ผมสัญญา ผมจะเป็นเด็กดีและจะไปโรงเรียน”

On the way to school, Pinocchio hears someone call out.
“The funniest puppet show! Hurry up! The show will be starting soon.”
At that moment, Pinocchio forgets his promise to Geppetto.
Pinocchio exchanges his books for a ticket and runs to the puppet show.
During the show, the puppets call Pinocchio.
“Pinocchio, come here! Come with us!”
ในระหว่างทางไปโรงเรียน พินอคคิโอได้เสียงใครบางคนตะโกนเรียก

Pinocchio jumps on the stage. It makes the owner angry.
“You ruined my show!”
The angry owner takes Pinocchio and locks him in a cage.
Pinocchio cries in a cage.
“Help me! Help me!”
พินอคคิโอกระโดดนขึ้นไปบนเวที นั่นทำให้เจ้าของโกรธขึ้นมา
“แกทำลายการแสดงฉันพังหมดเลย!”
เจ้าของที่กำลังโกรธอยู่คนนั้นก็เอาตัวพินอคคิโอไปขังไว้ในกรง
พินอคคิโอร้องไห้อยู่ในกรงนั้น

Suddenly, Blue Fairy appears to Pinocchio.
“What’s wrong with you?
Why didn’t you go to school, Pinocchio?”
“The man forced me to come here.”
Pinocchio’s nose grows longer and longer.
“Your nose tells me when you lie. But if you become a good boy,
You will turn into a real boy. Will you promise me?”
“Yes, I will!”
Then, Pinocchio’s nose gets smaller again.
The Blue Fairy helps Pinocchio go back home.
ทันใดนั้น นางฟ้าสีน้ำเงินก็ปรากฏตัวต่อหน้าพินอคคิโอ

On his way home, he meets a fox and a cat.
“I’m going to Toyland.”
“Why don’t you come with me?”
“No, I don’t want to go. I have to go home.
My daddy is waiting for me.”
ในระหว่างทางกลับบ้าน เขาก็เจอหมาป่าตัวหนึ่งและแมวอีกหนึ่งตัว
“ฉันกำลังจะไปเมืองของเล่นนะ”
“ทำไมไม่ไปกับฉันด้วยล่ะ”
“ไม่ล่ะ ฉันไม่อยากไปหรอก ฉันต้องกลับบ้านแล้ว

But when Pinocchio sees the wonderful wagon, he changes his mind.
He jumps on the wagon.
Finally, they arrive at Toyland. Pinocchio gets very excited.
But he doesn’t notice himself changing.
He becomes a donkey with the tail and big ears.
“Oh, no! Help me! I don’t want to be a donkey!”

Soon, a big whale swallows him. Pinocchio walks inside the whale.
He sees a light and an old man in a ship.
“Daddy!”
“Oh, my son!”
They hug each other.
“How can we get out of here?”
ไม่นาน ก็มีปลาวาฬยักษ์ตัวหนึ่งกลืนตัวของเขาเข้าไป พินนอคคิโอเดินเข้าไปในท้องของปลาวาฬ
เขาก็เห็นลำแสงหนึ่งและเห็นชายชราคนหนึ่งกำลังนั่งอยู่ในเรือ
“พ่อจ๋า!”
“โอ้ ลูกพ่อ!”
ทั้งสองสวมกอดกันและกัน
“เราจะออกไปจากที่นี่ยังไงกัน”

Suddenly, Pinocchio has a good idea.
“Let’s start a fire and make smoke. Then the whale will sneeze us out.”
When the whale feels the fire and smoke, he sneezes and lets them out.
“A-choo!”
ทันใดนั้น พินอคคิโอก็นึกวิธีออก
“มาจุดไฟกันเถอะและทำให้มีควันเยอะๆเลย เดี๋ยวเจ้าปลาวาฬจามเอาพวกเราออกมา”
เมื่อเจ้าปลาวาฬรู้สึกถึงกองไฟและควันนั่น มันก็จามอและปล่อยทั้งสองคนออกมา
“ฮ๊า-ชิ๊ววว!”

Geppetto and Pinocchio can go back home.
Pinocchio really regrets his behavior.
He really feels sorry to his father, Geppetto.
So the Blue Fairy turns Pinocchio into a real boy and they live happily ever after.
